Homework and Other Battles

Thursday, February 23, 2012; 6:30-8:00 pm Whitehall Public Library

Homework, chores, dating, driving, schedules, practices, jobs, friends, cell phones, computer use and clothes are probably just a few examples of the battles you may be having with your teenager right now. Did you ever wonder why an expert or parenting book can't give you any solid advice about what to do in these situations? The answer is not a simple one because your teens are not simple creatures, or the same. The first thing to know is that all behavior has meaning. Once you decode the meaning, need, or desire behind the teen's behavior, or in many cases, misbehavior, you can begin to form a more reasonable and effective plan of action. We can help guide you step by step through a worksheet to determine the meaning behind your particular battle, how to respond, and if needed, how to implement effective discipline.
